“Small Settings, Big Protection” (નાની સેટિંગ, મોટી સુરક્ષા)

1. LOCK YOUR PHONE

  • Screen Lock: Use a 6-digit PIN or Fingerprint. Don’t use simple codes like ‘123456’.
    • Tip: Go to Notifications and turn on “Hide Content”. This stops strangers from seeing your OTPs.
  • Find My Device: Turn this ON. It helps you find or lock your phone if it gets lost.
  • Strong Passwords: Use a long password (names + numbers). Change it every 6 months.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Turn this ON for WhatsApp and Email. It adds a second lock to your account.

2. STOP UNWANTED ACCESS

  • Check Permissions: Apps like Flashlight don’t need your Contact list or Location. Turn them OFF in Settings.
  • Official Apps Only: Only download apps from the Play Store or App Store.
    • Warning: Never click “Install” on links sent via SMS or WhatsApp. They are often fake.
  • Stop Ad Tracking: Go to Google Settings > Ads > Delete Advertising ID. This stops companies from following what you do.

3. SMART DEFENSE (CRITICAL TIPS)

  • Stop Spam Calls: Turn on Do Not Disturb (DND) or use a spam blocker app to stop unwanted sales calls.
  • No Screen Sharing: Never download apps like AnyDesk or QuickSupport if a caller asks you to. They can steal your bank money instantly.
  • Safe Charging: Don’t plug your phone directly into USB ports at stations or airports. Hackers can steal data this way. Always use your own charger plug.

    4. WHATSAPP & SOCIAL MEDIA

    • Go Private: Set your profile to “Private”. Only friends should see your photos.
      • Rule: Never post travel dates or financial details publicly.
    • WhatsApp Safety:
      • Lock your private chats.
      • Hide your profile photo from strangers.
      • Don’t Forward: If you aren’t 100% sure a message is true, don’t send it to others.

    5. EMAIL & CLOUD SAFETY

    • Phishing Alert: Ignore emails that say “Account Blocked” or “Update KYC Immediately”. Banks never ask for passwords on email.
    • Save Important Files: Use Google Drive or iCloud to back up your Documents and Photos. If your phone breaks, your important papers stay safe.

🚨 POLICE VIDEO SCAM (DIGITAL ARREST) 🚨

    • The Lie: “This is the Police/CBI. You are under arrest on a video call.”
    • The Truth: Police NEVER arrest you on a video call.
    • The Stats: Indians lost over ₹2,100 Crore to these scams last year.
    • Your Action: Cut the call. Do not panic. Dial 1930 to report.
